This photo was taken during a rehearsal for a dance project I was involved in, held in the dance studio at Loyola Marymount University. I was drawn to how natural light filtered through the large studio windows, softly tracing the dancers’ movements. The afternoon sun created a quiet rhythm across the floor, its shifting patterns almost choreographed by time itself. Watching the dancers explore movement in this shared space reminded me how lighting can shape the atmosphere of creation. Even without stage lights, the interplay of sunlight and shadow framed each gesture with intention. It was a reminder that movement and light are inseparable that each responding to the other in an evolving dialogue.

Hi Haihua!
ReplyDeleteI love how this photo vaguely has a 2010 vibe to it. I feel like it has to do with how the lighting is in this photo, photo quality, as well as the space. I enjoy the pools of light, and how no one in the photo is directly in one. I also think it is cool how each person in the photo is going through a different movement.
I love your comments on lighting accentuating movement - great research photo for a piece to be staged. You caught the subtleties of the photo very well. Nice post
